From an early age, Annette had a deep passion for animals – especially horses. This love led her to study veterinary medicine, with the goal of truly understanding animals and helping them in the best possible way. While working at sport stables during her studies, she witnessed the heavy use of supplements and medications, which made her increasingly critical of conventional practices.

Driven by her ideals and a healthy dose of independent thinking, she chose her own path within her studies. In 2004, she graduated with a unique focus on animal ethics and doping in equestrian sports. She firmly believed: healthy horses start with less stress and better nutrition.

What followed was a determined search for what horses truly need. When she couldn’t find any products that aligned with her vision, she decided to create them herself. In 2008, Equilin was born – a brand offering products based on the horse’s natural needs, including the first BALANCER introduced on the Dutch market.

Her innovative approach gained international recognition in 2018, when her proposal to double the roughage standard was adopted as an official welfare norm. This became the foundation of what she calls:
"The New Feeding" – a fresh, natural approach to equine nutrition, with roughage at its core.
